Kitabon Ki Duniya

We position ourself as an umbrella organization, offering support to institutions eager to establish their own libraries. We are proud to introduce ‘Kitabon Ki Duniya,’ our flagship program designed to assist child-centric institutions in setting up children’s libraries.

After nearly a decade of experience running a children’s library in Nagpur, we started receiving requests for curated book lists to help others start their own libraries. Many educators sought guidance on how to effectively engage children with books and stories. ‘Kitabon Ki Duniya’ was born in response to this growing demand from across the country. The need is particularly acute among new organizations and schools that may lack the human resources and experience necessary for building a children’s library.

‘Kitabon Ki Duniya’ aligns with Reading Keeda Library’s vision, which is to “make more books accessible to children across age, gender, and location.” To turn this vision into reality, we recognized the importance of partnering with like-minded individuals who already have strong connections with children.

We collaborate with interested organizations to help them understand the fundamentals of establishing children’s libraries: Why a children’s library is essential, age-appropriate criteria for selecting books, reasons for acquiring books, maintaining a library, and the role of a library educator among others.

Recently, we collaborated with UPAY (UnderPrivileged Advancement by Youth) , an NGO dedicated to underprivileged children across six cities. We conducted a three-day workshop for select volunteers at our Shankarnagar (Nagpur) facility. Previously, we conducted a similar capacity-building program in Melghat for the educators at Sadaya Rural Upgrowth Foundation where they are working to empower the Korku Tribal Community by providing a holistic approach to primary education.

By promoting a culture of reading books, organisations like UPAY and Sadaya are taking a giant leap towards making holistic education accessible to all. It gives us immense pride to be a partner to them in this journey.
